Product overview

The Heart Rhythm Scanner is #1 selling product on heart rate variability market. It uses cutting edge technology to give you the ability to measure parasympathetic and sympathetic activities and assess the autonomic balance in the body i.e. it provides the means for a quick evaluation of the autonomic nervous system’s regulatory function. It allows for quick design of the HRV evaluation protocols of any length, or number of test trials to accommodate to any research or assessment needs. Such protocols can be built on-the-fly with ease. During or after session, the Heart Rhythm Scanner completes full HRV analysis and creates detailed reports for all trials. This allows for an easy comparison across numerous applications or procedures. The protocols can be saved for future applications.

By measuring the heart's rhythmic patterns (also called Heart Rate Variability, or HRV) The Heart Rate Scanner system will give you accurate insight to your body’s self-regulation!

The Heart Rhythm Scanner is used by Clinical Researchers, Stress Management Counselors, Alternative Therapy Specialists, Biofeedback Therapists, Physiology Class Teachers, Physical Occupational Recreational Therapists, Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Specialists, Professional Psychologists and many others...

The Heart Rhythm Scanner provides HRV data comparison to the population norms!

Software
The software is based on a standard short-term heart rate variability (HRV) analysis of the resting heart rate (HR).The Heart Rhythm Scanner provides detailed information about the tonus of both the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and autonomic balance, provides the means for the creation of various flexible HRV testing protocols, e.g. single snapshot test, pre/post evaluation, etc.

Time/Frequensy Domain Analysis reports

In HRS report also inlcuded Time Domain and Frequency Domain Analysis parameters (Total Power (TP), High Frequency (HF), Low Frequency (LF) and Very Low Frequency (VLF), LF/HF Ratio that is used to indicate balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic tone).
Mean NN (beat by beat interval in ms) LF/HF Ratio
RMS-SD (ms) SD ( Standard deviation of all NN intervals) in ms
Specific therapies effects evaluation

For evaluation of the effects of specific therapies on the autonomic nervous system the Heart Rhythm Scanner allows for quick building of customized protocols of any length, or number of trials. Research protocols can be developed in real-time with ease. For example, a specific protocol can be created to evaluate the autonomic function before therapy, during it and afterwards. Once the trials are completed, the Heart Rhythm Scanner performs full HRV analysis and creates detailed reports for the data received from all trials. This allows for easy comparison across numerous therapeutic applications or procedures. The protocols can be saved for future use.

HRS can also evaluate the effect of:
* Various health conditions
* Intense emotions
* Acute and chronic stress and fatigue
* Toxins
* Diet and exercise
* Medications
* Therapies
* Vitamins and supplements
* Yoga and meditation
* Stress reduction techniques
* And many more...
Standard compliance

The Heart Rhythm Scanner software was developed according to the standards and mathematical procedures for short-term HRV analysis set forth by The European Society of Cardiology and The North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology (1996).

Hardware
The data is evaluated either with an ECG unit or pulse wave sensor.

Using Device Right

Supported Hardware

  • Biocom HRM-02 pulse wave sensor
  • Biocom 3000 ECG recorder
  • ActiveECG® recorder (ActiveECG® is a trademark of Active Corporation)

Biocom HRM-02 is an ear-clip pulse wave sensor connected to PC via USB port.

Typically the ear-clip should be placed on earlobe.

In some cases when earlobe placement does not give good pulse wave signal the ear-clip can be placed on a finger.

Biocom 3000 ECG recorder is connected to PC via standard USB port.

Unlike many other ECG devices, Biocom 3000 unit is as simple in use as pulse wave sensor.

Biocom 3000 ECG recorder includes a signal cable with two electrode pads to be placed on wrists of both hands secured with elastic wristbands.

This ECG cable utilizes special large dry ECG electrodes that can be used many times.

ActiveECG device is a single-channel ECG recorder from Active Corporation.
This device uses standard off-the-shelf pre-gelled ECG electrodes providing ultimate quality of ECG recording.
The electrodes can be placed on both wrists or chest.
The ECG electrodes are disposable, so it will be customer's responsibility to obtain them.
The standard inexpensive ECG electrodes can also be purchased from Biocom Technologies.
